JOY CLUB
Carolina Dance Center’s JOY CLUB is directed by Missy Blackburn and features dance classes specifically designed for dancers with autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, developmental delays, learning disabilities, and various emotional, physical, and social challenges. Joy Club participants will experience the JOY of dance and movement in a safe, friendly environment while working on fine and gross motor skills, balance, musicality, strength, and confidence! Each dancer will have the opportunity to work individually with a teacher assistant who will help them learn new steps, get creative, and just enjoy dance. JOY CLUB gives dancers the space they need to be themselves and make new friends. Dancers will have optional performance opportunities throughout the year.
Classes are available for two age groups: 13-17 yrs and 18+ yrs.
2026-2027 FALL/SPRING CLASSES
Fall/Spring 2026-27 pricing for this class is $25 per month with no registration fee. Enrollment includes a special JOY CLUB t-shirt. Scholarships are available!

DANCE ATTIRE:
Comfortable clothing or any type of dance wear. Dancers can participate in sneakers, bare feet, ballet shoes, or jazz shoes.
Joy Club Assistant Application
Carolina Dance Center is looking for caring, enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our JOY CLUB classes!
As a class assistant, you'll be expected to:

Encourage participation and support dancers during class.

Help create an inclusive, positive environment.

Assisting instructors as needed.

Attend and perform alongside Joy Club in their annual Spring Performance.
No dance experience is required, just a kind heart, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help. Whether you're a student looking for volunteer hours, interested in special education, or simply someone who wants to give back, we'd love to have you on our team.
